Naming the 25th Hour

I’m a rebel in disguise.

I must have been 9 or 10 when I walked with my family for the first time in the New Orleans Crescent City Classic 10K. Only five letters could fit on my running bib, and the C in Rebecca was mistaken for an L, so…I became REBEL.

What’s in a name anyway? Kiva Slade, an OBM in my super network, says: “Actually, quite a lot!”

Kiva has since discovered the meaning of her name in different languages and cultures, and I think she’s secured just the right name for her OBM business practice too, The 5:16 Collaborative. It calls back to Ephesians 5:16 which speaks about making the most of our time.

Fast forward from the day of that 10K to 2012 when I decided to be my own boss and run my own business. A move only a rebel would make, for sure! ????

Now it was my turn to come up with a name. A name that defined what I do and how I do it. My friend, Tess Goldblatt, came to the rescue and told me to: “Go right for the jugular!”

She said: “What do most too-busy people want? More time… I used to and still sometimes say I need 26 hours. You are the 26th hour in someone’s day. That says, you KNOW how hard they work!”

Well, I’m a rebel, not a magician…

So I named my business The 25th Hour, have received numerous compliments over the years about the name, and I’ve been working my butt off ever since to guarantee at least one more hour in your day!

I’m now a rebel with a cause Share how you came up with your business name in the comments below!
